Please recommend ... need help
« on: February 13, 2006, 07:00:24 AM »
Hey hi, I found out that someone used my computer today and done some bad thing.  >:(
There was some traces  left in the recycle bin. So I would like you people to recommend a freeware/ free program which will prompt you to enter password(s) during the computer startup phase(before it reach the window screen<the place where it prompt you for username or password).

I'm using windows 98 SE, apparently, the person doesn't need to enter any password to enter, just by pressing the "Esc" key, it will skip that phase.

I know you will say google is your best friend, but I don't know what to search for.

Thanks for your help and time.

Yes thanks for the information. From the words you gave, I searched for more and found this program: http://www.r2.com.au/software.php?page=2&show=syslock

I'm using this and the bootup password.

Thank you. The folderlock is cool but it's shareware.

Just use a BIOS password.  That way no one can easily do anything at all on your PC.

Read your motherboard manual to find out how to set a BIOS password.
Only able to visit the forums sporadically, sorry.
