Embarrassing Question...
« on: February 17, 2006, 07:57:27 AM »
Well, I hope this already hasn't been asked. I did look but couldn't find anything quite like it... So here I go.

Well, I am a teenager - and as teenagers do I enjoy looking at porn sometimes. This never really caused a computer problem until recently because I could always just go back and delete the history and everything was good. However some of the sites I visit are appearing in the URL window if I type in the first letter of them, even though I have deleted all the cookies and history. I also cleared the Autocomplete and SSL Slate so I don't know what to do anymore. Can anyone help me? My computer is an HP Pavilion by the way.

Nope,  :-/ It still pops down in the URL if I type in some letters. It probably did help get rid of some other naughty stuff though. Any other reccomendations?

Try putting your mouse pointer over one of the entries, and press the delete key. Note: Do not click on the URL, just put your mouse over it.

I am afraid none of this is working. You see - if I visit any sites enough it seems they become a permanent part of my URL. I can't seem to delete them.

I'm very surprised ccleaner didn't clear everything for you.
Give us one of the offending links to try. :D
PM it if you wish, don't worry, I'm old & have seen it all before.

It's impossible that Ccleaner didn't remove them away...What is your browser? Be sure you check appropriate boxes under your browser (Inetrnet Explorer, FireFox etc.)

You could try not visiting those sites.  Problem solved.  You'd also stop running out of Kleenex, that way.

Maybe you should ask yourself if either you, or any member of your family should ever appear in this pornography that you so enjoy, would you feel the same way?

Pornography along with prostitution is a crime as are all crimes.

Pornography is a perversion and its existance points to corruption and a perversion of justice.

Would you not rather live in a crime-free world with no wars and no pornography?

Did you say porn was the basis of all crime and problems in that world? That is just silly! Anything, I think my computer has some sort of internal 'favourites' system, and it automatically catalouges sites I visit often so I don't have to type in the url everytime. The CCS did clean a lot of things, but not what I am looking for...

Renissance, don't listen to him a 'tall. He's been banned at least 5 times, and is overdue for another one. He's supposed to be gone for good.

Mr. President, don't you have anything better to do than make a fool of yourself?

Good work on kicking the porn habit. I'm trying to do the same, but it is far from easy.

Can we just answer the guy's God-**** question? This isn't a thread about morals on the Internet. He's asking how to get those URLs off of his Address Bar. Do you know how? No? Then go away.

And when I said "Yeah, well they DO exist. And sadly, so do you", I was referring to this:

Yeah, my brain hurts. I'm using all of my brainpower to restrain myself from saying what I REALLY think of you. I'd get banned for sure if I said it.

For Mr. Presidents information, I am rather fond of addiction and societal decay. So he needs to stop lecturing because ideas such as morality as subjective. I can't help but thinking his is some kind of joke. Mr. President, psuedo-morals work real well - however when they are bathed in hypocrisy they merely become tools for shaming us into social conformity. Surely you are using your communicating 'computer' to communicate things of global import.

What do you actually compute on your computer? Probably nothing unless using a spreadsheet or using an engineering or mathematics program.

So you are 'communicating' or playing games.

But are you communicating effectively and how good is your game play?

What is your position with regard to Global government?

Promoter of pornography or opposition to pornography?

How do you oppose crime and war in order to promote peace and order?

Too tired to think of anything? Brain hurts maybe?

'Somebody else' is looking after these things.

                        It's not your job.

So your just apathetic about it all then.

Doesn anyone else get confused when they read Mr Presidents posts?  Like, where did "and what is your position on global governement" come from?  I mean, the original thread was how to get rid of URLs int he URL bar, he took it to internet morality, he should at least keep it THERE.

So... you believe in Ancient Egyptian gods??? You might be the first to do so in over two thousand years. Have you called Guinness? They might have an opening for you there. Look under "biggest nutcase".

Sorry, but nobody believes in Atum, Ptum, Ra, Seth, Osiris and the two-page long list of gods.

                                From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Altruism :

"As the name of the ethical doctrine is "altruism," doing what the ethical doctrine prescribes has also come to be referred to by the term "altruism" -- serving others through placing their interests above one's own."

Are you sure you prefer altruism?  Doesn't seem like the ethical choice that suits you perfectly.....

Sean Connery, et al, thought that they were James Bond, but James Bond is a fictional character. The real SIS, FBI, CIA, MI6, MI5, RPG, KGB, GSP, STASI, Foreign Office officials and Embassy staff are not fictional characters.

I assure you that I am totally real.

You need to separate fiction and films, television, etc. from reality.

                                Seriously.

As to impartiality, do you think it right that Lord Mountbatten was (really) blown up?

There is no such thing as a licence to kill.  That is my point.  I have no difficulty separating fiction from reality, I assure you.  Another ironic slur on your part...

I think you do and so do others. But they twist the law to suit the conditions prevailing at any given time. Certain members of State organisations do have a license to kill or to use deadly force when necessary. I have known people who not only had a license to kill but who were actually trained to kill, as I am sure you must realise is the fact rather than the fiction.

The Geneva convention may be regarded as a license to kill in that it lays down that a full metal jacketed round may be used but a dum-dum bullet may not. It also speaks about the rules of war but it makes no mention of the rules for peace.

Someone had to licence the dropping of the bomb on Hiroshima. Had they dropped the same bomb on Chester it might have been seen differently.

State before church then? Especially when it comes to loyalty and given that the Royal Family is known not to be celibate and has never been seen in any pornographic edition. Given that there are a number of churches, which State would you choose?

On a separate issue, that of immigration.

If Britain were to impose a zero immigration policy and encourage all other states to employ a zero emmigration policy what would be the result?

Where do all these immigrants really come from and why do they not stay in their own countries?

What do you really understand by 1st 2nd and 3rd world countries and what do you really understand by 1st, 2nd and 3rd class. Why should not everything be 1st class?

Standard (conditioned) answers will not be accepted.

Have you ever noticed that the conversation is nearly always the same?

How good are you on 'laws of Tort' and the proving of intent?
                                      Pretty good, thanks.

Whilst I'm actually addressing you, I'd like to take this opportunity to remind you that I AM NOT A CRIMINAL LAWYER.  I PRACTISE CIVIL LAW.  Civil law is largely about property and individual rights and obligations.

I shall now go back to ignoring you, which regrettably is much better for my blood pressure.

Pretty good, Mr Pomeroy, is nowhere near good enough.

Criminals intend to commit crime, pornographers intend to produce pornography, and terrorists intend to commit acts of terrorism, just as drugs dealers intend to supply drugs.

Clearly you are lacking in experience and don't fully understand the fundamental principles of Law.

For your blood pressure I can recommend garlic.

Professional doctor, dentist. Professional criminal, prostitute.

Evidently, in your world, there is no difference as they are all 'professions'.

Quite where priests and nuns fit in, I fail to comprehend, as none of them have any professional qualifications.

As for the acting 'profession' give me the real people any time before any of these performers.

Then there are professional footballers who are 'qualified' to kick a football into a net and such 'members of society' as the 'professional' drunkard and 'professional' darts player.

Doubtless robbing banks will become to be known as a 'profession'.

One day truly professional soldiers will realise that there is no point in going to war with a neighbouring country when they may as well stay at home and protect themselves as best they may.

Remember, remember the 5th of November and the infamous plot to overthrow the British Government.

                                      Nothing has changed.

Guy Fawkes was subsequently tried as a traitor with his co-conspirators for plotting against the government. He was tried by Judge Popham who came to London specifically for the trial from his country manor Littlecote House in Hungerford, Gloucestershire.

Fawkes was sentenced to death and the form of the execution was hanging, drawing and quartering,
which reflected the serious nature of the crime of treason.

These days we just shoot traitors. It's much quicker and more humane.

Consider this Papal statement issued by the Vatican. "All women are whores."

Does this agree with your own view as a married man?

Now consider "All people are criminals."

                                      Getting better all the time.

We seem to be making quite some progress.

I am quite pleased, for a change.

I always wanted younger people, but not too young, to take a fuller part in running things.

Doubtless you're one of these people who thinks that your Father is Mr Pomeroy senior and you don't want a surrogate.

The preserving of inanity is not what is required. We are trying to eradicate inanity in favour of sanity.

You do a lot of preserving and insufficient preventing.

E.G. Crime. There shouldn't be any.

Therefore the fact of 'religion' has not rid us of any of the bad words in common usage.

Bad occupations, bad states of being, and bad words in general.

People just blithly accept their use without comprehending the why and wherefore.

How are you going to prevent these bad occupations, bad states of being, and bad words in general from ever existing?

Given that it is now proved that the Catholic Church uses its host to mesmerize people and its catechism to brainwash them, and given that others have an equal, if opposite, fatalistic view of life, how do you intend to prevent this from influencing those who wish to have nothing to do with fatalistic agendas, apocalypse, Armageddon, general violence, crime, prostitution, drugs dealing, unruliness, dumb insolence, litanies and talmuds?

Why have trillions been spent on weapons of war which are too dangerous to use and why did anyone ever manufacture these things in the first place?

You don't actually know, you just accept this as being normal and have blindly accepted a status quo which is undesirable and which does not protect each individual properly.

                                      You are just being used.

Abused would be a better descriptive.

911 is for the Emergency Services in America. You remember the 11th of September, World Trade Centre, Ground Zero? 9/11

Apparently Mac is confusing this public forum with a private telephone call.  He is also confusing "leaving" with "staying" and "cheerio" with "hello".

Hey, if you need a quick one shot kind of approach, try privacy eraser http://www.privacyeraser.com/.  Unfortunately it's a shareware program but it gets the job done right.  It helped me remove over 6GB of useless junk stored by my multiple browsers and many of my application histories too.  Worse case scenario, you can always buy paper and save yourself from trouble. ;D

Use Evidence Eraser it really helps, it goes right down to the hidden files and takes them out as well as encrypting the data at DOD level!! So try it out for free for a month, you will be surprised at the results.
It takes care of email history, internet history and hidden stored registery which holds the information, as well as the locations where the cops look for stuff.
