Hello. I have an email scam demanding money/litecoin if I dont pay etc they will do nasty things like take control of my computer, contacts etc & send rude stuff to everyone.

Now this email has my own email ID & photo. So it looks like I sent it to me????

It was in my junk folder so I took photos of it & reported the activity to our scamwatch.com.au. Maybe they can do something about it?.... but I dont have much hope in seeing any arrests personally.

The email didnt have any block or delete ability in the options bar either so I just deleted it manually.

So, how is it so? Is there anything I can do about it, or just keep deleting any others that might come through.

As a matter of fact I, last week changed my password to hotmail for similar, spam mostly reasons.
I do backups & scans with SAS fairly regularly & dont usually go to many out of the ordinary websites.

My computer is Windows Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6200U CPU @ 2.30GHz 2.40 GHz, 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor.

I have run evilfantasy's virus & spyware removal recommendations & CCleaner for a start. SAS also says AOK, deleted those recommended.

Do you think this is just a random delivery or should I dig a lot deeper.
Any reply would be well regarded. Thank you

It takes 15 years to become an overnight success & Windows 10 will add another 10 years to it.

Delete it and find something else to worry about.

ImnoGuru

Many thanks Allan. I thought that too. ;D & did just that.
Its only when dummies respond to those things that they get into strife. I.M.H.O.

My curiosity was .... How do they use my picture/email name/ so on & randomly? send it so it looks like I sent it to me.
Thank you for your reply. I hope it goes to help others.

It's called spoofing. Anybody can make it look like the email came from somebody else - including the recipient.

I see. Thanks Allan. I sort of thought that was the case. I deleted it as you advised & let the world continue to spin.
