« on: March 13, 2006, 11:18:28 AM »
Hi, im new and ill probably be on here loads as i know nothing about computer.

I have an oldish computer with windows 2000 professional on. When I got to start my computer up im getting this message

Winnt/System32/config/system

"You can attempt to repair this file by starting windows 2000.
Setup using the orginial floppy disc or CD ROM
Select "r" at the first screen to repair"

I have put the CD in and nothing happens?

Does anyone have any ideas, thanks!

Did you try to repair using the CD like it instructed? You said you put the CD in, but my question is what you did once inserting it.

If it actually is a bootable CD, you need to set the BIOS boot order to boot from CD before hard drive. Preferably, it should be set to Floppy, CDROM, 1st hard drive.
If it isn't a bootable CD, make the Win2K boodisk set from the CD and use those.
