hard drive problems
« on: March 27, 2004, 05:07:01 PM »
When i first turn on my PC, everything is fine, until the hard drive stops making that spinning sound, therefore it doesnt get detected, and the OS doesnt load up. This happened very suddenly, and i have no idea why. If anyone can help out this would be much appreciated.

Check if the hard drive is detected in the BIOS.

It is detected in the BIOS, but the PC thinks there isnt a hard drive when it boots up.

If you can beg/borrow/steal/buy a different HDD, see if you can slave the one with problems.  It may be that buying a cheap small HDD and installing the OS on it might save you a lot of aggrivation and allow you to keep all your data.
