Removing user passwords in XP from slave drive?

My 5 year old Dell will not boot, but I can access the hard drive in our new computer, so most of our files are accessible.  (We contacted dell about the boot problem, the power supply needs to be replaced, but the part isn’t available anymore so we just got a new computer)  However, since I’m an accountant & work from home, I had a password on my login name, protecting many of my client’s files.  Unfortunately, I can’t access my “My Documents” on the old hard drive because of the password.  My user file folder says there are zero files, which I’m sure isn’t true.

Can anyone help me with either booting either of our new computers (new Dell or new eMachines) with the old hard drive as master (instead of slave) or with removing the password on the slave hard drive?  Any suggestions would be most appreciated!  I know the password, I’m just not sure how to get rid of it!

Oh, and all the computers are desktops and all are running Windows XP home.

If you chose the option to make the files for that user name private, then Windows XP has encrypted them and you will not be able to access them.  It is a security feature of Windows XP and Windows 2000 to keep someone who steals your computer from accessing your files.

You might be able to purchase a used power supply of the same kind through eBay (or at least purchase a computer of EXACTLY the same Dell make and model number).  That way you can have a hardware technician install the power supply you purchase in the old computer or the hard drive in the used computer you purchase and get it working just long enough for you to have windows no longer make the files private.

What model Dell is this? It's hard to believe that Dell does not have a power supply for this. I can still get new ones for 7 year old Optiplex at a reasonable price through them. Ones "off the shelf" at the local store may not work, but this seems the best fix.
