« on: April 01, 2004, 09:30:47 AM »
Hello, I am using window's XP: home edition and my computer will not play any sound files other than .midi/.mid

Audio CDs, .wav, BGM in websites, even the the computer sounds under the sound tab :/

I have tried the control panel but nothing seems to work

Can anyone help me? Thanks.

I uncheced the use only default devices box in control panel and my cd is now working. However, I still can't play bgm and .wav (system sounds) files  :-/

You don't mention any details of your system, if you can give some more information someone may have some ideas. (ie sound card type, system info)

If unsure of the age of your system try updating the device drivers.

If using Real Player, Media player or Winamp etc. are they working properly? you can also check the file type associations.

Check the Volume Control window one or more formats may be muted.

    I hope this can help
