Frozen settings on windows 98
« on: June 15, 2006, 04:37:03 PM »
I have a friend who has a computer that uses windows 98, and he is just learning it seems the settings the pixels

that control the text are frozen.  He has tried to move it but it will not budge.  The screen is oversized and the

the print is also.  He can't get it to return to normal screen and text size.  I have tried settings and alt delete and ctrl

and I am not very computer savy.  So please if someone can help he is using it for school for his son.

Thank you.

How about some specifics on the computer itself, like a make/model number and the processor, RAM, etc.? Was this a fresh install? Did you load all the appropriate drivers, especially video drivers? Do youj have a real Windows CD if you need to reinstall? What is the history of the machine? Did it used to work right?

As you see, a little specific info is needed.  ;)

What is the computer model number? It should be on the case, in the BIOS, etc.

You can also download Belarc Advisor and see  if it is listed. Free at www.belarc.com

Assuming he hasn't reformatted and lost his video driver, give this a try. Right click a blank area on the desktop. Select properties. Click the settings tab. Move the slider bar to a higher resolution. Click apply. If you can't see the buttons at the bottom, press the A key to apply.
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.
