keyboard problems

my keyboard is reading itself wrong.
ab  +cü  efghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz

123´4567890

it has extra things:
 c+ for c.  
´ in front of 3
and the back space does not work.  It reverts to e.
dü for d.
wierd....
any ideas?

Sounds like its time to get a new keyboard. Can you try another keyboard?? Before you get another one, uninstall the one you have in Device manager then make sure it is plugged in at the back in the right slot. Have you maybe spilt somthing on it? still if not this is how they normally show themselves to go bad.

Don't plug or unplug a PS/2 keyboard while the computer is on!

My first guess would be that your language settings got screwed up, remapping your keyboard.  Look in the Control Panel for "Regional Settings".

Oh, and I plug and unplug PS2 keyboards all the time, with no (apparent) ill effects.

Still no luck!  reads false.  How do I replace a notebook keyboard?

With great difficulty, in some cases!  Opening up a laptop is not at all like opening up a desktop PC.  You would benefit greatly from the engineer's manual and a good dose of psychic ability.  A seasoned engineer wouldn't have a problem, but a casual DIY-er should steer clear.  Only you know what category you fit into.

Second hand replacement keyboards are perennially available on eBay, but beware.  The fault could be with the motherboard, rather than the keyboard - and that is harder and more expensive to replace.  If in doubt, contact your local laptop repair shop.
