cd burning error

when I go to burn a cd an error comes up that says medium calibration error  what is this and how can i fix it

What program are you using to burn the CD?  Windows Media Player, Nero, iTunes???

Can you provide some system specs?

Im using Roxio CD creator 7  I have a sony DVD/ CD Double layer burner

Did this ever work correctly? If so, what has changed? If it is a new install are there any errors in Device Manager? Are there firmware updates available for this item?

What type of cd are you using to write to?

Roxann Now, based on what you told me I understand that:
You need help writing to your disc.
You have an error message when writing.

Roxann This error is usually generated by out of date firmware. Please update your CD/DVD writers firmware from either the company that bundled the writer or the writer's manufacturer. Do NOT try to update your firmware from any site that is not the manufacturer or the company that bundled the writer.
