was reinstalling win 98 after c format put disk in and screen says disc not being read -any suggestions appreciated

    What condition is the disk in [scratched, fingerprinted, smugged] ?  Try another disk

    Will the cdrom drive read other disks?   Clean the cdrom drive with compressed air

    When formatting the hard disk did it come up with any "allocation errors"

    Sometimes you can make an exact copy of your windows install disk and it
    will work.

    You can also copy windows to your hard drive and install that way.

      Are you using a boot floppy or trying to boot from the 98 disk?
      We need more info to help you.
