Are you on a wireless network?

    When you say

I assume this problem deals with Internet Explorer

What kind of help center are you speaking of?

Try scanning for Viruses and Spyware. Set your Security zones and Advanced Internet Explorer settings back to default.

Does Bellsouth have technical support you can call?  Might be a glitch in their software.

Have you gone over the product settings to make sure itsn't timing out on purpose?

Calling Bellsouth may be a good idea as well, see if there are any product updates.

thanks for you reply , i sure do apreciate it.  i am a little hard of hearing(because of a few strokes) , but i have called bellsouth a couple of times and both times the tech was in india and could not half hear or understand what he was saying and both times he sent the phone man out with a new modem/router.
how do i find out if it is timing out?
is it possible that my screen saver could cause the problem?
          thanks again

Trust me, that's nothing to do with your hearing impairment.  Blinkin' Indian call centres.

Your dropping internet connection could be due to a few problems:
          • faulty DSL filters on phone lines
          • Using certain equipment (such as faxes) on the same line, particularly without filters
          • flaky modem
          • poor signal to noise ratio on the phone line - you could ask your telecoms company to boost the line gain.  This could help with your hearing impairment too.
          • intermittent line fault - get your phone company to test the line
          • poor atmospheric conditions (e.g. electromagnetic interference
          • or the ISP may have a secret policy to drop internet connections occasionally - it happens
Only able to visit the forums sporadically, sorry.

            Ditto Rob  ;)

I deal with India/Pakistan/any 3rd world support and it doesn't make a difference if you have good/bad/NO hearing problems....they STILL don't understand  :-/
