    Probably a stupid question, but..

A friend asked me about helping put up a small wireless network for his business.  There will no be no internet connection just file and printer sharing between 3 or 4 desktops and 2 or 3 laptops with a mix of Windows 98, Windows XP and maybe Windows 2000.  I was thinking about using Network Magic software to simplify things.  Do I just use a wireless router and adapter cards or is there something else I need to know?

That's the first thing I did, a search on Google but they all assume I want to connect to the Internet.  I don't.  I guess that's what I really wanted to ask....is everything the same just with no connection to the Internet?

You can still use a router, you just won't be using the WAN port/settings on it. This is the easiest way of doing it so that you can use DHCP.

        The rest is the same.

Don't forget to secure it, though. Use WPA-PSK / AES

Thanks for the help.  I'm not a network guy but that's what I figured.  Thanks again.

Isn't Network Magic free for a bit and then they charge you?
