Wireless security for a newbie.
« on: November 15, 2006, 10:29:18 AM »
Hi all, I have just installed an Etec router to my XP Professional desktop and am using a laptop with Windows 2000 professional and wondered what you thought was the easiest/best system to use for security, ie WEP or otherwise, your advice would be appreciated, thanks, Jim.

I really need to write a FAQ about this...  WPA provides the most secure networking but is the trickiest to set up.  WEP is okay; WEP2 is better than WEP.  What you'll be able to do depends a lot on the limitations of all your network hardware.

You should lock down your computers with reasonably strong passwords, particularly if you use file sharing.
Only able to visit the forums sporadically, sorry.
