Win98 USB Drivers
« on: April 01, 2004, 06:34:39 PM »
I've built a PC from two old ones. I don't have a Win98 CD. When I try to use the USB ports it won't let me. I have tried to install the Intel 82371AB/EB PCI to USB Universal Host Contoller from the Control Panel, but it tells me I need better drivers. I've tried a few, but it asks for the disc. Intel don't have the drivers. Any ideas would be very much appreciated. I have Broadband and a new mouse waiting to be plugged in! Thanks.

Let me first ask you------ when windows comes up does it automatically recognize the usb controllers? If not then usb support may be disabled in the BOIS. Get into Bios and make sure it is enabled, then Windows should see usb as plug and play on next start up. I don't think this is driver issue.
