bt homehub home network

hi all

first post so be nice

ive got a bt home hub and 2 pc's connected - one for myself and one for my son

how can i access his pc using the hub, ive never done any networking but ive been trying to muddle through- set up file sharing etc but whatever i do i dont seem to be able to see his pc

a guide for dummies would be much apreciated
