    You don't say what kind of documents are scanned.

    You don't say how many computers there are on the network.  Based on that (if there aren't too many), Iask someone what was the last document scanned then do a search on each computer.  Tedious but might do the trick.

    I do understand, but bear in mind that if you are already paying for them to fix this kind of problem, then it is a waste of money for you to try and fix it...
