    Bluetooth 2.0 USB Adapter.
    « on: December 16, 2006, 08:26:18 PM »
Hi, I just bought an IOGEAR Bluetooth 2.0 USB Adapter, Class 2. I have installed it and nothing seems to be working, I mean it can connect to my cell phone but when I go to setup wizard lets say and go 'File Transfer,' it tells me "Device 'Motorola Phone' does not support service 'File Transfer.' However, how come my phone have Bluetooth if it doesn't support it?

I found something online that said Verizon crippled Bluetooth: http://www.engadget.com/2004/08/27/verizons-lame-excuse-for-crippling-the-bluetooth-on-the/

But my Motorola isn't that model. Mine is a RazR V3M. Does anyone know what I can do or should I return this Bluetooth device back to CompUSA? Thanks everyone.

    R.

There are several things you can do with BlueTooth, including file transfer.
It may be your phone just doesn't support file transfer.
It doesn't mean the adapter or phone is faulty.
Try reinstalling the software and drivers and see if that helps, beyond that I'd say your phone just doesn't support it.
Athough it really should, my friend has a V3 and his does . . .
Have you tried anything other than File Transfer?

Yes, I have tried other things than file transfer and nothing really is going on. I am going to the Verizon store today to see if they can help.

Do you get the same message with everything you try?
That your phone doesn't support it?
Have you tried reinstalling software/drivers as I suggested?

I went to the Verizon store today, and the women turned on her Bluetooth and she did not detect it on her cell phone either. So maybe it is the cell phone problem? At any rate, the lady told me to go to the technical Verizon center.
