pc isnt logging onto router
« on: January 02, 2007, 06:28:36 AM »
hi, connected all the wires like it says in the book but do i connect the modem router to the LAN or the phone? because the light for the port  on the modem router isnt lighting up, then it says in the manual i have to type a http:// address which logs me onto the router but nothing happens

currently its plugged into the LAN, atleast i think, i know that the old dail-up cable came out of that port, have broadband now but its a usb modem

It may be the right port, it may not - the photo's pretty blurred.
You need a wire from the router to the phone line and one from the router to the PC.
The port on the router to connect to the PC should look the same as the one on the PC.
Hope this makes sense.

If this is a broadband USB modem, you would normally plug the "line" port into the data output of your ADSL filter (which in turn is plugged into your telephone socket).

Is this a modem or a modem router?  A make and model number would be helpful.
Only able to visit the forums sporadically, sorry.
