Shorthand for all the Unix variants; e.g. Linux, Minix, Dynix, Ultrix, Sinix, and all the other bits and bobs that don't contain the letters i, n and x.  (E.g. BSD, HP-UX, AIX, Solaris.)

Be wary of Vista. It has been designed with HUGE DRM security and performance issues that should be of concern to any but the most casual users. These are showstopper problems that are just now coming to light.

Windows Vista will only cause problems, ideally, if you're into illegal software. Of course, there are bugs, but I haven't run into any, i.e. MS hasn't accused me of theft.
