An update; I have discovered something new.  My ISP is Earthlink and I've been using my Earthlink email address in my Computer Hope Profile ever since I joined the forum.  Last night, I changed the email address in my Profile to a WebMail account - entirely separate from Earthlink - that I seldom use.  Today, email notifications came through to that address.

I don't view this as a solution because I definitely prefer to use my Earthlink email address and download POP mail to my computer, as usual.  I'm having no problem receiving mail from any other sender.  I just changed the email address in my Profile back to Earthlink just to see whether the process of resetting causes it to work again.

Thanks for this update.   I'm going to try changing, and changing back, too.

What I wish CH admin would do is verify whether all mail going to Earthlink users is getting blocked.  I believe that would not be too difficult.  Non-delivery notices should be coming to CH, right?  If I can get confirmation that this is happening, then I can call Earthlink Support again and discuss the exact cause of the problem.

Yes,  that would be nice -  if we could know what is happening.

WillyW, I'm now receiving notifications to my regular EarthLink email account.  It started working after I changed the account in my CH Profile back to EarthLink yesterday.  I hope you have similar success.

And, yes, it would be helpful if Admin could provide some feedback to such problems.

Changed mine, and sent myself a PM.   Got that within a couple minutes.   No surprise there,  as PM s  have been coming through -  it is only the notification of new posts that stopped.   Just wanted to be sure that there were no typos.

After you posted in this thread,  still nothing.    Checked email a few times.   Should have paid closer attention to the time,  but I'd estimate I waited at least a half hour.

Went to do some things,  and just for the heck of it, I checked it again.   It was there!    No idea why it took so long.    Again,  I wasn't really timing it -  hard to say how long between the last two email checks.    An hour or so....

Have just now changed it back to the original email address.

Soybean:   When you get your notification,  would you please post again in this thread?      Thanks.

Thanks for posting.

Got it this time, within minutes.   You can tell by the time stamp on this post.  :)

Perhaps the delay I experienced earlier was a function of the email account I had temporarily assigned.    Now, back with my original one that quit back on the 5th,  it arrives within minutes.

Good.

Thanks for working it out!
Now,  if and when it ever happens again,   we know what to tell people to do to restore the function.       :)

Unfortunately the notification can be flaky at times. Have done a lot to attempt to fix it but still fails every once in a while. Maybe if I get to doing that forum update it will resolve it but may not happen for a while.  :-/

Well, I do not believe either WillyW or I know for sure that the problem was at ComputerHope's end or with our ISPs.  Since he and I were the only ones who seemed to have this recent persistent problem and we both resolved it through some experimentation as explained in previous posts, I don't think we can absolutely conclude what caused the problem.  However, we both felt that if CH Admin could confirm whether some emails were kicking back a non-delivery notice to you, that would be very helpful to know, and I believe such info would have indicated our ISPs were, for some reason, not allowing it to go through.
