2 Out of 6speakers +sub work :( Help

Hey, i just bought a brand new computer (vista) 3800AMD processor 2gigs of ram X1300 ATI grapghics. it has a 7.1 sound card. And anyway only 2 outa 6 speakers work. its weird because on the sound test, all the speakers work. but while playing music, only 2 works. Any suggestions?

What do you use to play the music?
What format is it in, and is it stereo sound?
Most formats are only stereo sound,which can cause this.
You will need to enable "upmixing" which your PC may not support.

I use windows media player to play my music. and the format is .mp3. and im pretty sure its stereo. ill look into upmixing and see if that works. got a link for upmixing? that'll be great. ps thanks for the quick reply

OK, so i went to control panel, sound, properties, and i turned ON enhancements, i started to get skips last 20secs of a song with WMP. so i download foobar2000 and now theres no skipping and all speakers work. I guess i figured it out on my own. thanks for the help tho, i really appreciate it

OK, good for you.
If I'd been on when you posted back I would've suggested either a new sound card or (more realistically) a different audio player.
