I can't get on the Internet

I can't get onto the Internet. I open "e" and it just sits there. It started doing this yesterday. I haven't changed anything on my computer to cause this. I can get to the Network Neighborhood and to my home folder on the server, but the Internet is down. I'm not good with computer...can you help??? Thanks, helpmeplease

Operating system / antivirus & antispyware protection / service packs installed / when did it start happening / did it ever work right / installed any new software?
