« on: April 05, 2007, 09:18:35 PM »
Hey, i really need some serious computer help. I just turned on my computer to find that all my files are gone. It is like the computer refuilt it's desktop on it's own! The background and everything has changed back to default. What happened? Is there anyway to get back the files have lost? Should i try to restart the computer?

You can try system restore and etc. but you've been a little vague, so for now I'd say open up "My Computer" and check that you still have files there. It's possible it's just been your desktop that's been reset.

Did you accidentally log in as the wrong user?

Ok, if you're 100% sure everything is gone, and not in the recycle bin, you can search the net for a program called "Restoration". It is freeware, and searches your hard drives for any deleted files that haven't been securely erased. Alternatively you can use a boot disk (Such as "Hiren" boot disk) which have various file recovery tools. If you cannot find this program, let me know and I'll send it to you.
