Apologies for any typos in this; I can't see very well.

I was heading down a gravel hill in my car when I skidded. A friend who was behind me couldn't stop in time and I was struck from behind. A '06 Geo Metro vs. a SUV is not a good thing. My car, somehow, didn't get the worst of it, but my head hit the steering wheel and my left glasses lens put a gash above my eye. I also have a rathar nasty case of whiplash. I got taken th the hospital and while I din't need stiches, I was patched up as well as possible. I'm gonna hurt like *censored* for a few days. *censored*, I'm missing out on that meeting with my girlfriend,... sucks. I'm gonna recoup for a while, and be gone from the rest of the world.

Wow Dilbet, good thing you're ok.
I was in an accident once in Dallas. This was quite a long time ago. I was in my cousin's truck and we were going to WalMart and another car cut right in front of us at a turn and hit the right side of our car and we ran off road and ran into a street light.
Nor me or my cousin was injured but the repairs to the tuck cost like $3000
I think it need a new engine or something.
Anyways...the point is you're ok

Update: My glasses have been -- sort of -- fixed. They're still tweaked to the point that they're unwearable for practical purposes, but I can hold out until tomorrow when I get new glasses. Whiplash is at its worst so far today.

So, I can sort of see, but the glasses which caused the y-shaped cut are still badly tweaked, and I yelp in pain if I move my neck.

On the plus side, I'm back on the Net -- at least a little.

Sounds like the time I went two days without being able to move my neck. (Oh my goodness! That hurt more than ever! I couldent believe it.)

I wasn't expecting this fast of a recovery. It still hurts to move my neck, but I'm not constrained to bed as I thought I'd be.

I use Allstate Insurance, but I really like Progressive right now.

Yesterday, I talked with a claims adjustor to assess the damage to my car. It's officially totaled, which means I have to pay a small fee to not have it automatically sold to a salvage company. (It's perfectly drivable; the car just isn't worth much, so any real damage totals it.

)

The $59 charge will come out of my compensation payment, which will apparently come out to a little over $900.00 USD.

Replacing the damaged bumper (shocks are gone) will cost about $100 if I install it myself (not so hard), leaving $800. After this, I will split the money 50/50. Half will go into a savings account for college, the other half into my checking account for miscellaneous things I need (like gas, couple of dates with my girlfriend*, etc.

)

Story gets better: In about 6 months, I get a Pain and Suffering check for the scar the glasses put above my eye. If the scar is still there after 6 months, I get even more money. Total payment for the damage will be over $1,000.

*HUGE need!!!

Lucky you. A cow ran out in front of my mom one night and she totalled her car (a kid coming from the opposite direction swerved to miss the cow and plowed right into a tree). Unfortunately, because cows have the right-of-way here, our insurance company (Enterprise) wouldn't pay for damages, medical, or the cow. We're lucky it wasn't a bull; it would've come out to thousands of dollars because you apparently have to pay for whatever offspring they would've spawned. Sheesh. And we couldn't even get a couple of steaks out of it.

Heh, yeah, she made me change it (only once) because she took it the wrong way. But it was back to normal long afterwards.

(By "made me" I just mean she asked me to change it and I listened because I'm whipped...and I'm afraid of her taking away my...er...whoopie.)
