They wouldn't be the same price, iPods are always overpriced in my experience.
If they were, I'd still stay far away from the iPod.
I don't like the way they look, I don't like the controls, and they lack innovative and useful features.
Also, you have to use iTunes to transfer tracks, correct?
And it's DRM protected, and you can only use certain formats?
    Bah.
I see no reasons to go for one, every reason to stay away from them, and always have done.

I have to agree with you about the iTunes, its the most retarded thing Apple has ever done just like Sony made SonicStage also a need to convert before you can play the files.
Oh, the wonderful days of Quicktime...
    Quicktime kept crashing FireFox
    So I obliterated it

I used to have that problem, whenever I would install quicktime it would not be able to open any flash animations in internet explorer and quicktime didn't play any videos in google video or other ones that use flash.
Its not what you know, its what you can do that counts!

Quicktime gave me a hard time, so I had to manually search and destroy it.
But now it's back, and behaving.
    For now.

For anyone that's interested, there are alternatives to QuickTiem and the other major offender, RealPlayer.
Google for "Quicktime Alternative" or RealPlayer Alternative" - they are real programs, not just fakes or programs that say they are alternatives, that's what they're called.
They do everything the "real" one can do, but are much smaller and faster.
Basically, it's WMP Classic with extra codecs and add-ons.

Back on topic (slightly) I agree about SonicStage, that's the only thing stopping me from wanting a Sony player.
Players that only play rare or obscure formats, or only about 3 formats of music, really get on my nerves.

Thats what I used to use, but since the crashing problem, I never got back to installing it again (not like I can even view Quicktime videos anyways in FireFox)

Basically, Quicktime Alternative is the Quicktime Pro version, but a little bit modified, and its using the Apple Quicktime Classic Player.
It does include the codecs, and can allow Windows Media Player to replace it. (Just not for web video playing)

    EDIT: Here it is http://www.free-codecs.com/download/QuickTime_Alternative.htm

you know what? i hate ipods now. i got another psp, and it's my mp3/4 player now. i have a 2 Gb mem stick in it and it's the best, it's an alternative to an ipod and it's more reliable and (from my experiences) stronger.

My psp was run over 4 days ago. my stepfather who was driving, weighs 140 Kgs. no problems with it either, a cracked screen is all and the crack is barely noticeable. beat that :P
