Compatible wi-fi mouse
« on: June 08, 2007, 07:55:34 AM »
Just bought an HP G5056EA Notebook. Wireless is 802.11b/g WLAN.  Can I buy any wi-fi mouse for it and would I still need a receiver plugged into my notebook?

You would need a receiver plugged into the computer. Wireless mice work on different frequencies than WLAN.

True.  You can't use a wireless mouse or keyboard, etc with a wireless adapter like that.

Not necessarily, if the laptop has Bluetooth or IRDA integrated, some mice can use that.
Only a very few though.
So in most cases, you will need an adapter, what kind of adapter depends on the mouse and technology,

Indeed they can.
I was looking for one a while ago, then discovered that there are only a few that don;t need an adapter, so I got a wired one.
