Using External hard drive

Can you download a program and run it, that will require use of an internet connection, such as LimeWire?
Also can your download Nero 6 on the external hard drive and run it?  I am unsure what this device is capable of letting me do. ;D

An external hard disk drive will act just like any other hard disk drive. You will see the hard drive listed in my computer and explorer, you will be able to copy files to the hard drive, and you will be able to run programs from it.
