Temp location for downloads

Hi,

What's the temporary location for downloads of IE.

I was downloading some 100MB file, and while it was just saving on hardisk after full download, i mistakingly pressed cancel.

What will be the temp location of that file.

Couldn't find in the Temp internet files.

Downloaded files are usually stored in the Temporary Internet
Files folder. If you're using Windows XP, you should be able to find it in Document and Settings\the user account name\Local Settings folder.

You may have to set the folder to show all hidden files.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think you may have lost that file.  You may want to consider using a download manager for bigger downloads.  What kind of connection do you have?

I have a broadband, so not too tension of the speed.

But just wanted to know, if it can be recovered in any case.

As i pressed the cancel button at the moment it was copying the file from the temp to the destination folder.

I would say so, yes.  Download managers work by saving the file to your hard drive as it downloads.  Whenever a portion of the file is downloaded, it's automatically saved.  Windows/IE doesn't do this; it saves the entire file at once when the download has completed.  Because you didn't allow the file to save, the whole process was undone.  I would suggest getting Free Download Manager and using that to download large files.  It's very user-friendly.

But it has to save somewhere before giving me a full file.

Here it might be deleted when i pressed cancel.

Is that place Temp Internet files.

I think pressing cancel gets rid of it.
