Primary / Secondary Slave failed detected

that message 'CD-ROM 50xATAPI found, primary slave fail' appear when starting computer. What's the problem??

Jasey,

Is this CD-ROM drive a new drive or have you added a new drive by any chance? If so have you verified that the jumpers on the CD-ROM drive as well as the jumpers on the other drive on the same cable as your CD-ROM? Jumpers can be found on the back of the drive and must be set appropriate master and/or slave option.

If you have not added a new drive to the computer and this error started occurring, is the CD-ROM drive working or is it not able to get past this error?
