Certificate errors in internet

I have WinXP/int expl 7; The last few days whenever trying to get on website with password I get the error "there is a problem with this website's security certificate". The time & date is set correct on the computer don't know where to go from here to fix the problem.  Thank you.

Check if you have enabled Cookies and Cache, when accessing a Secured site, it may be saving Cookies to authenticate the session.
