Error Message when trying to run game

I've been having this problem for months and I haven't been able to fix it. I went to the Microsoft site and tried to do what it said, but it didn't work. I have WindowsXP and every time I try to intall a certain game it gives me this error message:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

What exactly is the game you are trying to install perhaps the software companies site has listings of other users with the same problem.  I couldnt find anything like that through a search...
