Tell us a little more about your computer. So far we know it has usb.
Operating System, RAM, CPU, hard drive space, Brand and model of pc, software installed, etc.
Does your computer have usb 2.0?
Does the ipod work on other computers?

Your iPod came with an instalation disk, put it in your computer and run it. This should install any missing mass-storage device drivers made specifically for the iPod.
You can also download the iPod software from http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/ (Select the one that says "With iTunes for XP or Vista" )

If that doesn't work, there may be an issue with your iPod, consult your manual, follow its troubleshooting tips, and reset the device if all else fails.
