Win NT: Explorer App Error
« on: November 20, 2004, 12:13:44 PM »
Hi all,

You sure helped me out last time, but I'm afraid that I'm back for more ...

I have done a search here at computerhope, but could only find IE app errors so here is my problem and request ...

90% of the time that I boot my Win NT4 machine, I get an Explorer Application Error generated (it's been happening for more than a week now).

The latest error message I got was:

Explorer.exe - Application Error
The instruction "0x77f64981" referenced memory at "0x746e6e69". The memory could not be "read".

:'(

Does anyone have an idea what is wrong?
And also how I can put it right? (Please note that I am not an administrator).

All help is appreciated!    :)
Thanks for your time.

Paul.

    Could be faulty RAM??

But first, repair/reinstall it and scan for viruses and spyware.

I thought you were talking about Internet Explorer, not Explorer itself... sorry. Can you actually get into Windows and do stuff or does the error prevent you from doing anything? Try going into safe-mode. Get it then?

Of course, my advice about scanning for viruses still applies, if you can do it.

this problem is caused by sp2 +spyware

go in to safe mode and uninstall sp2....and download again at your leisure> and while you are in  there do as neil suggested scan for bhos...>http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads/bhod/ and download spybot...as well if you wish that is...
