Win2000 Pro installation recovery
« on: December 02, 2004, 01:45:27 PM »
Hello,

I'm trying to continue with a Win2000 Pro installation that failed during a previous installation trial.  The computer now only has a partially installed Win2000 that keeps freezing after the final "Windows Components" setup.  Is there anyway I can discontinue this installation, start over and completely re-install the Windows?  Or what can I do to access DOS and install from there?  I've also tried to insert another windows install CD (98SE, for example), but the computer only wants to continue with the Win2000 installation.

What can I do?

Thanx

Thanks for the fast reply!

For some reason, the page following the link "How to erase my hard disk drive and start over" only opens upto  "The following steps are for users with MS-DOS 5.0+, Windows 3.x, Windows 95, Windows 98 and Wind"

Is there a problem with the page?

The article also contained a link to another article called How to install Microsoft Windows 2000.

When I try to boot from the Win2000 CD, it only wants to continue with the installation; and if I try to start with another Windows CD, it goes straight into completing the Win2000 installation and asks me to put in the Win2000 CD.  (It then freezes at "Performing Final Tasks/ Installs Start menu items".)
