    recover lost CD keys?

    My Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne manual's been destroyed, is there any way I can recover my CD key electronically (through the disc or something)? I'm not interested in pirated ones because then I can't use battle.net.

      If you got the game installed you might be able to recover the key. Don't ask me how specifically but if you're lucky it might be stored in the registry.
      You can't recover it from the disc because the key isn't stored on it.
      You might have to call Blizzard and see if they'll help you out.

        what do you mean by stored in the registry?

        I'll save ringing them as a last resort. Do you think I could get the same result through the net - email or something?

          Games store the cd-key somewhere. Some store it in the windows registry. I can't tell you where WC3 stores its key because I honestly don't know. (Warning do not modify the registry unless you know what you're doing.)

          Perhaps you're not familiar with the rules around here.  We don't advocate things such as cracks, serials, keygens, and other similar workarounds that may be considered illegal.  And besides...it would prevent him from playing online, so it doesn't really help anyway.
