Not on the internet
« on: April 08, 2007, 12:50:42 PM »
I work at a small company that does not have an internet connection.  They also do not WANT an internet connection.  We recently purchased a second computer and installed a small, two computer office network.  Microsoft Security Shield persists in trying to find an internet connection.  Our other business software does the same.  What settings will tell our computers and network that we don't have an internet connection and to stop trying to locate one?  It is annoying to be stopped at every turn with having to close or ignore these messages.

Thanks for any help you can give.

A good place to start is to diasable automatic updates for all programs that have the feature.

Thanks so much for your quick response.  I'm pretty sure I have already done that but I will double check tomorrow when I go in to work in case I missed a program.  Incidentally, until we added the second computer and set up the intra-office network, this problem never occurred.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I checked with Dewey, Cheetum & Howe about this but they couldn't help me since they only offer service to on-line users.  Because they would need to help me from my home computer, they had to reject my claim for privacy reasons :P
