Insert your boot disk and start the computer up. At the command prompt, try

    format c: or fdisk c:

This will completely wipe the harddrive.

It's possible that the harddrive has just died.

    Dearest Neil,

Oh thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!  Yes it worked perfectly!

I do have a question for you though - I do not have any usb ports on this computer.  I had bought a usb card.  But when I put it in, it says that it doesn't support 95 only 98.  Any way of getting around this so that I can finally put a decent printer on here for the kids?

Hello Neil, YES YES YES!!  Because of you and Merlin, I was able to reformatt, actually I reformatted 2 times - after seeing that 95 doesn't do s**t, I decided, I'm gonna go for it!  And it worked!!!!   I'm just trying to get into the bios STILL, NO F keys worked at all.  So if you or anyone else knows how to get into the bios in a Compaq Presario - I would appreciate it!  By the way, I'm making Cheesecake and Cannoli's for Christmas - Stop by and  have a Christmas drink!

Thank you and Merlin for All of your help!!!  This is a Christmas present I'll never forget!

Try using the delete key at the start of bootup. Are you having any troubles with 98? (Is that what you have installed now?)

By the way, I LOVE cheesecake. ;)

I guess that means you'll have to come to the States and drop by for a homemade cheesecake!!!
