USB Hard Drive Problem
« on: November 13, 2007, 01:18:21 PM »
I took a Buslink USB Hard Drive L series and removed the 13 GB Seagate hard drive and installed a 40 Gb Seagate Hard Drive in it.

I installed the Buslink drivers for XP because it's not a standard USB Mass Media Device. The drivers worked fine on a 2003 Server and an XP Pro system. When I tried to use it on my XP Laptop which is running XP Home it is unable to find the drivers.

I thought the problem might be related to the USB power output from my USB ports so I put a powered hub between the laptop and drive. My laptop sees the device but can't find the drivers.

In device manager it's listed as a USB-ATAPI4 Bridge Controller

It's quite possible either the laptop MBoard lacks that device or it's not supported in XPHome...
I'll check on XPHome while you post your laptop specs...

More Buslink Drivers...
