Powering dual video cards
« on: November 26, 2007, 12:04:59 PM »
I'm getting my hubby a Geforce 8800GT for Xmas.  Right now we have have identical CPUs with a 6800 in them.  When he gets this new card he can give me his old one and I can run both the 6800s in mine.  Will a 500W power supply support both cards?  If I need more power, how much?

The really sad thing is....I could ask him and he would know instantly, but he'd be smart enough to know what I'm up to and ruin my surprise.  :'(

Wow . . . a relationship where both people are into computers.
That's what I'd like, heh.
Just hope that he doesn't run into this thread.
Off topic randomness aside . . . yes, a 500W PSU should be fine, as long as you're not running huge amounts of things like 10 hard drives or something.

Awesome!  It's actually not as great as you think, us both being comp geeks.  He has to listen to me whine every time he kills me in FPS games.....now, especially, in UT3, LOL.  I can hold my own though and he gets his paybacks.  ;D
