My monitor turns itself off
« on: December 29, 2007, 07:02:45 PM »
I have recently started having an issue with my monitor turning itself off.  It happens in any different program; online or offline.   The monitor turns off; then when I turn it back on, it will be on anywhere from 1 second to 10 seconds and it turns itself back off again.  Occasionally it will stay on for longer.

I have replaced the monitor; so that is not the issue.  The computer keeps functioning; if I click or type, it operates as normal; but I can't see what's happening.  It's driving my crazy!

I am working in Windows XP on an HP.  Anyone got any suggestions?

Help!?

Maybe your video card? Do you have separate one, or on-board?
Try Safe Mode. If your monitor stays up there, your video card will be main suspect.

Have you looked around in Control Panel/Power Management ? ?
