    win98 install
    « on: September 04, 2010, 03:42:43 PM »
Ran the cd, got to point of restarting and when back on get a command prompt? and floppy drive light comes on like it's looking for the boot disk.
I think it's a command prompt, anyway its a bar in upper left corner.  Pressing any letter does nothing.
from looking a FAQs maybe I have overloaded memory, (with multiple driver installations) trying to install an Imation super drive and Ezonics web cam.
How do I get rid of the driver files and back to win98?

When you install Win98 you always do a format and a fresh install don't bother doing a reinstall as that causes more problems than it solves. If you get a bootable floppy from http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm the WinME OEM is good for Win98. Boot it up with the floppy disk installed then run Format C:. If it doesn't boot from the floppy then you need to set the boot sequence in the CMOS/BIOS. Then you can set the boot sequence to the CD Rom and boot with the Win98 CD and install. Thats of course if you have a floppy drive. ;)
