Changing Administrator in Win2000
« on: February 03, 2008, 09:43:29 PM »
Someone has just given me their old laptop (IBM Thinkpad Pentium 3, 260 MB RAM, Win 2000 SP4) but it won't let me muck around with it because it keeps asking me for the Administrator password.  I have asked my friend for the password, but he doesn't remember it.  Is there any way, without a complete format and reinstall that I can change the password?

Welcome to the CH forums.

Forum rules prevent discussion on how to get around security measures.  While we can sympathize with you how would you feel if your pc was stolen and this forum was used to gain information on how to crack your password(s) ???
