    Is the ESET NOD32 anti virus system any good?
    And how good is its scanner?

      Yes it is pretty good.
      It is especially known for having a good heuristics engine. A heuristics engine looks for programs that behaves like a virus. This enables an AV program to detect viruses that doesn't yet have an AV definition.
