anti virus problem...

Hi...

I am using McAfee 8.5i version

yesterday, I download the latest sdat to update my AV. after installing and restart my computer, there is still a pop up message on my task bar that "my computer might be at risk", my anti virus are not updated.

why? even I already update it with the new updater......
is viruses can still penetrate to my system?
