I have 128 MB of onboard ram on my Nvida Video card what is this for??

When does the video ram come into play and why is 128  MB batter then 8 MB?

If I play a DVD does videoo ram matter?

I don't know what is going on.

The RAM stores information. It can be very quickly accessed. If you have less, you can't store as much information, which will make the graphics card slower. 128 MB is plenty for watching DVDs, you need more if you want to play new games.
