How to update Win98SE with no internet
    « on: March 08, 2008, 01:24:27 PM »
Currently have an older  PIII with a licensed Win98SE os at the cottage. The unit does not have a modem and no access to internet. I may have accidently blown out one of the updates, downloaded at a time we still had the internet. If I can get access to the internet with another WinXP unit, could I download Win98 updates? or doe I need a Win 98SE unit? Equally important, how do you instal them. Windows has a subdirectory in \windows called \updates. Do you just overwrite those and reboot?
    Thanks for your help.

I'm inclined to say, don't worry about it.  Since many MS updates are security related and you don't use that computer on the Internet, why bother with the updates?
