Monitor works for a few days and stops
« on: April 08, 2008, 07:30:40 AM »
Help Please!!  I purchased a new Acer desktop with Vista. I hooked up my old LCD monitor and it worked for about a week, then the screen went blank. I hooked the monitor back up to my old computer and it works fine, just wont work with the new computer. I bought another LCD monitor and hooked it up to the new Acer. It worked fine, and then about 3 days later it stopped (it works fine with my old computer). I hooked up my friends monitor and it worked fine (did not try it for extended days though). What would cause every monitor I hook up to only work for a few days?  This is crazy because the monitors are all good on other computers. Any suggestions???!!

    1.  LCD Monitor.  Does anything at all initially display on the LCD monitors when you power up the Acer desktop?  If so, what?

Have you tried starting Vista in "safe mode"?  See here.

    2.  Acer Desktop.  Model Number?

    3.  Operating System.  Which version of Vista and what service pack if any?
