"The first half of this evening, after I'd installed the current year's edition of my anti-virus program, this laptop was stickier and slower than molasses at the North Pole. I finally disconnected from the Net, then reconnected, and up popped a box from Windows saying it had detected "low virtual memory" and it was upgrading it and making it all better, whatever, yes, I'm back to my usual somewhat pokey maneuverings among the Windows I keep open."
