    Blue Screen
    « on: May 05, 2008, 08:39:18 PM »
Hi I keep getting the following message on a blue screen:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters.

Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, pres F8 to select Advanced Startup options, and then select Safe Mode.

    Technical information:

    ***STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005,0xF73E729F, 0xF7A87C48, 0xF7A87944)

Is there a specific "thing" you do that triggers that error?

      0.  There is some info on the web regarding BSOD, "iaStor.sys" and Dell computers.

      1.  Computer Info:
           a.  Make and Model Number of Computer (if brand name) otherwise motherboard.
           b.  How much system memory?
           c.  Are you using your hard drives in a "RAID" configuration?

      2.  Operating System and Service Pack Level; e.g. Windows XP Home Edition SP2.

      3.  When does the BSOD occur?  What sequence of events lead up to it?

I am actually not doing anything specific. I will leave my pc on, step away and come back to the BSOD. It was suggested that I re-install Windows and see if it fixes itsel. This happened after I had some issues with my hardrive and Dell reconfigured my PC back to its original out of the box configuration. I'll see what happens once I've reinstalled Windows.

Did you check my link, or it's not Dell?
